Resolution Realities (Prompt #3)

Tonight is the last night of 2014 – the year went by like a toddler running towards a plate of unguarded cookies, amirite?

Well, I’m working on this Friday’s post about goal-setting and writing resolutions, and I got to thinking about all the promises I’ve made to myself and didn’t keep because they were too difficult, or the results were slow in coming, or I was just plain lazy. And I started to think about how my life would be different now if I had actually managed to stick to those goals.

And that inspired this prompt!

writing prompt 3

How would your life be different if you had stuck to any or all of your resolutions? Describe the consequences both large and small. Knowing now what you didn’t know then, are you glad you didn’t keep those resolutions? Would you prefer that life, or this life? Do you think you’d be happier? Free-write for 15 minutes.

Send the link to a blog post with your answer to, and I’ll link to it when I post next Wednesday’s writing prompt!

Happy New Years, everyone! Don’t forget to check back Friday for our post on writing resolutions!
